Frequently asked questions
Can I try SpecMake before paying?
Yes. The Free plan gives you 1 document per month with no credit card required. You can also process one document without creating an account at all.
What are document credits?
Each credit lets you process one document — upload, extract, structure, audit, and optionally translate into all available languages. The Free plan is limited to 1 target language per document; all paid plans include all 14 languages.
Do unused credits roll over?
Monthly credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over. Need more documents? Extra credits are available for Professional and Business plans.
What file formats are supported?
You can upload PDF and DOCX files. Scanned PDFs are supported via OCR. Output is available as PDF, DOCX, Excel, structured JSON, or JSON-LD (DPP-ready, mapped to schema.org Product vocabulary).
Which languages are supported?
SpecMake supports 14 languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Romanian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Croatian, Slovenian, and Turkish. More languages are coming soon.
How accurate are the translations?
SpecMake uses domain-aware AI that auto-detects your industry and applies the correct technical terminology. Every translation goes through grammar validation and a source coverage audit. Numerical values, units, and product codes are preserved exactly as-is.
How does the cost compare to professional translation?
A typical 4-page spec sheet costs €80–€200 per language with a professional translator and takes 2–5 business days — and that's just translation, without extraction or quality checks. With SpecMake Professional, €6.60 covers the full pipeline: extraction, structuring, quality audit, and translation into all 14 languages. Ready in under a minute.
What is Glossary memory?
Glossary memory learns your preferred terminology across documents. If you use a specific term for a product or property, SpecMake remembers it for future translations — ensuring consistency across your entire product catalog. Available on Professional and Business plans.
What are Custom output templates?
Custom templates let you apply your company's branding, layout preferences, and formatting standards to translated documents. Upload your logo, choose colors, and configure styles — your output looks like it came from your team, not a translation tool. Available on Professional and Business plans.
What is Cross-reference comparison?
Cross-reference lets you select two processed documents and compare them field by field. It highlights matching values, differences, and fields unique to each document. Useful for checking product variants, comparing document versions, or validating multilingual source documents against each other. Available on Professional and Business plans.
What is DPP readiness scoring?
Every processed document can be scored against EU Digital Product Passport requirements. Select a product category (currently batteries and iron/steel) and the system checks which required DPP data attributes are present in your document and which are missing. The score shows your coverage percentage with a list of gaps. Based on published EU regulations — updated as delegated acts are finalized. Available on all plans.
What is JSON-LD export?
JSON-LD is a structured data format used by schema.org and future EU Digital Product Passport registries. SpecMake maps your extracted product data to schema.org Product vocabulary with PropertyValue entries for each specification. This produces machine-readable output that DPP platforms, product databases, and search engines can consume directly. Available on all plans.
How does the 1 target language work on the Free plan?
On the Free plan, you can translate each document into one language of your choice from our 14 supported languages. To translate into multiple languages from a single upload, upgrade to Pay As You Go or any subscription plan.
